Will Thoothukudi Corporation Take Stern Action on Beach Shops?

SIBY JEYYA
The summer vacation has started for kids and we can see parents taking their children to beaches and parks every day to beat the heat. Recently, Thoothukudi beach shops have been selling adulterated and unhygienic food. The pani puri stall in Roche Park beach, muthu Nagar beach created diarrhea and food poisoning for kids and even adults.

The vendors who never care about safety are repeatedly selling unhygienic items. When india Herald investigated the matter, Dr. Thayammal said, "No Food Safety guidelines are followed and no officials are conducting inspections. The pani puri created health problems for my child. The rose milk and soft drinks contain harmful chemicals. They also use reused oil which is very harmful. This was a clear-cut violation.

In Roche Park beach, in one stall, we found the hygiene to be really poor, while in the other stall, we found selling food without labels." Another commoner, Mr.Sudhakar said, "The artificial colors used are toxic and can cause cancer. Even mineral water bottles are misbranded. We can see substandard quality in aerated drinks, and packaged water."

Mrs.Chella priya said, "I have moved to japan and it's sad to see my hometown like this. Officials should check the samples and offer stickers to traders declaring the foods ‘safe.’ But no officials conduct inspections on Thoothukudi beaches. In Chennai, officials declare several outlets ‘unsafe,’ pasting such stickers on the stalls. so that Visitors consume food only at the outlets that are declared safe. The operation of unsafe outlets should be regulated and their licenses should be validated."

Is Thoothukudi Corporation Listening? Will the Thoothukudi Mayor step up and interfere and cancel the license of those shops or at least validate it? Or will it allow the common citizens to suffer from health issues?
