A local leader of vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) was shot dead by two unidentified people riding a motorcycle who had come to his shop in Nangal town of Rupnagar district of Punjab. police gave this information on Sunday. According to the police, deceased Vikas Bagga was the president of the Nangal unit of vishwa Hindu Parishad. police said that the incident took place on saturday evening when two attackers entered Bagga's shop located near Rupnagar railway station and fled from there after opening fire on them.

Anandpur Sahib Deputy Superintendent of police Ajay Singh said that the police are examining CCTV footage of the surrounding areas to search for the accused. Meanwhile, VHP supporters and bharatiya janata party (BJP) workers protested on the Una-Chandigarh highway on sunday against Bagga's murder. He demanded the arrest of the killers.

Sunil Jakhar expressed grief

BJP punjab unit president sunil Jakhar also expressed grief with the family members of the deceased. Jakhar criticized the Aam Aadmi Party-led punjab government over the law and order situation and alleged that Bagga's killing was a 'targeted killing'. He demanded that the attackers and conspirators be caught as soon as possible.

Punjab education Minister and local mla Harjot Singh Bains termed the murder as an unfortunate incident and said whoever is behind it will not be spared. Bains said, “Whoever is the culprit and mastermind of this incident will not be spared. They will have to data-face the consequences. No one will be allowed to disturb the peace of the state.
