The I.N.D.I.A alliance could not survive even in the wayanad seat of kerala from where congress leader rahul gandhi is the MP. cpi, which is part of the alliance, has announced its candidate for this seat. cpi has declared Annie raja as its candidate from wayanad lok sabha seat. cpi General Secretary D raja has given this information. D Raja's wife Annie is the Rashtriya Mahila Samakhya general secretary of CPM. Annie had already said that there is a possibility of party candidates contesting in Wayanad.

cpi already had its eye on Wayanad

cpi has already been eyeing rahul Gandhi's stronghold Wayanad. Despite several talks, no agreement could be reached on the seat sharing agreement with ally congress in Kerala. The ruling LDF in kerala had chosen wayanad among the four lok sabha seats where candidates from Left parties were to contest. If cpi will contest from rahul Gandhi's wayanad seat, then the picture is not clear on which seat rahul gandhi will contest from. CPM general secretary D raja had held a meeting of the party's national executive in hyderabad on february 6. After this meeting he had said that there was no discussion on congress asking him to leave wayanad but he did not rule out this possibility.

What has been the political history of Wayanad?

D raja had then said that wayanad was one of the four lok sabha seats that the CPM got as part of the seat-sharing deal within the LDF. He had said that no consensus has been reached on this at present. Let us tell you that in 2019, rahul had won the wayanad seat by a margin of more than 4 lakh votes against the CPM candidate who stood second. congress had also won this seat in 2009 and 2014, with CPM finishing second on both the occasions.
