CJI Chandrachud inaugurates mediation center in Allahabad High Court in Sangam city Prayagraj

According to sources Chief Justice of the country Justice DY Chandrachud yesterday (Saturday) inaugurated the new mediation center of allahabad High court in Sangam city Prayagraj. The mediation center has been set up near the High Court. Chief Justice Chandrachud also launched a new wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW">digital library for judges. He released a book named 'UP Ki Adalat'. Chief Justice and many judges of various High Courts were also present in the program. Chief Justice of india DY Chandrachud, while addressing the program, said that the country needs a large number of arbitration centres. He said that cases can be settled quickly and at low cost through mediation centres.

Accordingly mediation centers can play a big role in reaching a compromise agreement between the two parties. He said that the burden of cases can be reduced before they come to the courts. Justice DY Chandrachud said that if it takes a long time to settle the cases even through mediation centres, then people will avoid making settlements. In such a situation, the dispute between the two parties will continue and the burden of cases on the courts will also increase. Chief Justice Chandrachud raised questions on the reluctance of district courts to grant easy bail to undertrial prisoners. He said that he does not know why the district courts are afraid of granting bail. Chief Justice Chandrachud welcomed the rapid increase in the number of women in the field of law.

Moreover he said that making place for women in the field of judiciary is a very positive and good step. He expressed concern over the lack of adequate toilets for women in the court premises. He also suggested separate toilets along with sanitary napkin dispensers in the court. He said that today there is a need that the incidents of the past should not be repeated. Whether the incident happened before India's independence or during the Emergency, it should never be repeated again.
