Little supply of drinking water to people in coming summer days under Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme

According to sources in the plan to start drinking water supply by providing tap connection to every house under the Jal jeevan Mission Scheme in Koriya and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) districts of Chhattisgarh, the paper figures of the department are one thing and the ground reality is something else. Under this scheme, 100 percent work is to be completed by march 2024. But the way the work has been done in Korea and MCB districts, it is still far behind the target and there is no possibility of completing the remaining work by the end of the next month. Under Jal jeevan Mission Scheme, all necessary arrangements were made to supply drinking water to every house in which money was spent like water.

Meanwhile even in those panchayat areas where the work is being claimed to be completed, people are not getting water from the taps in front of their houses. So that in the coming summer days, people will have to meet their drinking water supply only through their traditional system. Because even after spending money like water in the Jal jeevan Mission Scheme, there seems to be little possibility of supply of drinking water to the people in the coming summer days. According to the information, till now about Rs 70 crore has been spent for providing water to every household under the Jal jeevan Mission Scheme.

Perhaps despite this, water is not available in the taps in front of people's houses. To complete this work, PHE department has been made an agency. The department claims that 70 percent of the work has been completed but till now water supply has not started in more than 50 percent of the villages.
