Durga prasad Prasanna, a resident of varanasi Lallapura, said while talking to ABP Live that he has been contacted by the main officials for the Shehnai recital in ayodhya on january 22 at the ram mandir pran Pratishtha event. It is a matter of great joy for me that I will get the opportunity to play Shehnai on such a major occasion in ayodhya of Lord Shri ram, who is adored by the whole world. A few days ago also we played Shehnai in the ram Janaki marriage ceremony held in Ayodhya.

Started playing Shehnai at the age of 5

Durga prasad told that he is approximately 73 years old and he started playing Shehnai at the age of 5. He has been carrying on the tradition of Shehnai playing as the sixth generation in his family. It is a matter of pride for him that he has a connection with Banaras Gharana and classical music. Certainly, classical music is an immortal music and these artists keep it alive on the basis of rigorous penance and meditation.

Ustad Bismillah Khan is considered God

Durga Prasad, who lives in the streets of Banarasi, considers Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan as his idol and God. Durga prasad said that Bismillah Khan Sahab has given a new height to the art of Shehnai playing and he will always be an inspiration for me. And I consider him a god in my field of art. Durga prasad has also been honored by many big artists associated with classical music including late girija Devi, Chhannu Lal Mishra.
