Unused floating bridge in Uttara..!?
Firstly, while the tourism department demanded that they need a boat stop to take tourists to resorts and water adventure sports, the youth and sports department insisted that they need water adventure sports. A floating concrete jetty for the first time in the state at the confluence of Kalinadi and the arabian sea at Sadashivagarh, Karwar, Uttara kannada district, under the Sagar Mala project of Rs 2.70 crore has been constructed by the Port Department. Built at cost. However, the sports department and the tourism department are fighting to make use of it.

However, the sports department got this land back two months ago, and till now it has been abandoned without any activity. Therefore, since they have constructed a good quality floating jetty, both departments are using their influence to persuade the Port Department to give their approval. Therefore, the port department is sitting idly by as to whom this jetty should be handed over to for maintenance after two months of construction. The State Port Department has proposed to build floating concrete jetty at more than 10 places including Udupi, mangalore and Uttara kannada district, and since the port minister is from the district, it has been built for the first time in Karwar. This floating jetty is strong enough to withstand rain, wind and floods. This floating jetty is constructed using aluminum on the top, polythene on the bottom and cement concrete.
Provision has also been made for charging the boats' batteries at this jetty, and there is no problem in stopping the boats even when the water is fluctuating. So it can be used in all seasons. It is for this reason that the sports department has insisted that they should be provided, and in the future we will provide national and international trainings in the same area. So, give the management of this jetty to them and give another opportunity to the tourism department, the people related to the sports department say.
