After the passage of the delhi services Bill in the Lok Sabha, the whole day of the rajya sabha on monday was dedicated to its name. This bill was discussed for the whole day on 7th august and it was also passed by the Rajya Sabha. 131 votes were cast in favor of this bill while only 102 votes were cast by the opposition MPs against it. Now this bill has been passed by both rajya sabha and Lok Sabha. With the assent of the President, it will become a law.
Through this bill, the central government wants to legislate that ordinance in which the Lieutenant governor will have the final authority for the posting or transfer of officers in Delhi. What is delhi service Bill?
This bill creates a civil services authority and gives wide powers to that authority (National capital Public service Authority). There is a provision to establish the National capital Public service Authority through the delhi service Bill. This will include the chief minister, Chief Secretary and Principal home Secretary. This authority will suggest to the Lieutenant governor for transfer and posting of officers.
