Manthan: With anticipation building for Smita Patil's film, "Manthan" will be screened today at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival.
Today at the renowned Cannes Film Festival, the 1976 film "Manthan" directed by shyam benegal will be presented.  Shyam Benegal directed the movie Manthan, which is on the list of cult classics. Verghese Kurien's groundbreaking milk cooperative initiative served as the inspiration for the hindi film "Manthan." Vijay Tendulkar and shyam benegal wrote the story together. 'Manthan' is the first crowdfunded indian film, let us tell you that. The 77th Cannes Film Festival, which opens today, will have a significant impact on indian film worldwide when shyam Benegal's "Manthan" is exhibited in the classic section. The lead was portrayed by the late actress Smita Patil.

The only indian film to be chosen for the Cannes Film Festival's Classic section is "Manthan." This movie featured significant performances by late actress Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Mohan Agashe, and Amrish Puri.

How the movie was made: 

500,000 farmers, each contributing Rs 2, helped to fully fund the movie, making it the first crowdfunded indian movie. Additionally, "Manthan" won two National Film Awards: "Best Feature Film" and "Best Screenplay."

Who will be present at the premiere: 

The film's producer, Naseeruddin Shah, the late Smita Patil's family, and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur of the Film heritage Foundation are expected to attend the Cannes premiere.
