Kannada film kgf and Tollywood's Baahubali are still iconic films in indian cinema. The film's audience reception, film budget, art form, box office collection, and story are all being talked about in a big way. Even after several years of release, the Baahubali movie is being talked about a lot by the film circles. There have been so much films that you can beat them all. But they are not talked about much. The main reason for that is that there was no influence on the current social networking sites then. There was no first-day review, box office collection, and twitter review which we have now.
Can you believe that a movie by Superstar Rajini at that time has achieved more records than kgf and bahubali films? The achievement was achieved in 1999 with Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Padayappa' directed by KS Ravikumar. It is a fact that not even 50 percent of the crowd that came to the theater to watch Padayyappa did not come to see kgf and Baahubali. As they are today, theater tickets were not as expensive then. Those time, people watched the film with 40, 50 rupees tickets. Due to this, the box-office collection of this film was not so visible. The total collection of Paydayappa is 40 crores.
Padayappa film starred by starred best actor sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Soundarya, ramya krishnan, Nasser, Manivannan, and Abbas. In this film, superstar gave shivaji an unpaid cheque. shivaji refused and got the required amount. Paydayappa became the first tamil film to release worldwide with 210 prints and 700,000 audio cassettes. Received 5 state awards for that year. In japan alon, the film sold for US$50,000. Most of us do not know about Padayappa's achievements as there were no social networking sites like today.
