Very close to India. China is building the world's largest "giant" dam

Very close to India. china is building the world's largest "giant" dam. Is it a danger to the Earth's rotation?

Beijing: china has decided to build the world's largest dam across the Brahmaputra River. China has decided to build this giant dam for a hydroelectric project on the brahmaputra river in the Tibetan Plateau. However, there are fears that this may cause dangers as the area is prone to frequent earthquakes.

If there is a country known for its giant infrastructure projects, then it is China. China has done many big constructionslike bullet trains and giant dams.

China's Giant Dam

Meanwhile, china has now decided to build the world's largest dam across the Brahmaputra River. This dam, which will be built at a cost of 137 billion dollars, will be located in tibet near the indian data-border. It is said that this will be the world's largest infrastructure project. China has now issued an official announcement in this regard. The Chinese government has approved the construction of a mega-hydroelectric power project on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River (the Tibetan name for the Brahmaputra), Xinhua news agency reported.

Where

The brahmaputra river makes a huge U-turn in tibet before flowing through Arunachal Pradesh and Bangladesh. The dam is tobe built in this valley where the river meanders through the Himalayas. The cost of building the dam is said to exceed one trillion yuan ($137 billion), making it the world’s largest infrastructure project.

China already has the Jam hydroelectric power plant in Tibet. It is now the largest hydroelectric power plant in tibet and has been in operation since 2015. It is in this context that china has now announced plans for another mega-hydroelectric power plant there.

Concern

At the same time, this project is also a concern for neighboring countries. If such a large dam is built, it will give China total control over the flow of water. Moreover, if china suddenly releases too much water, there is a risk of flooding in places near the banks of the Brahmaputra. At the same time, it is noteworthy that india is also building a dam on the Brahmaputra in Arunachal Pradesh. The dam proposed by China is planned on the Tibetan Plateau, one of the areas where earthquakes occur most. If a strong earthquake occurs and something goes wrong with this dam, it will cause a huge disaster.

China's explanation

At the same time, china has stated in its press release that despite the risk of earthquakes, this project will be implemented with utmost importance to safety. The Brahmaputra flows across the Tibetan Plateau. It is noteworthy that it flows through a steep valley of about 25,154 feet before it reaches india from China.

China had already built a dam called the Three Gorges for a similar hydroelectric project. This giant dam even affected the Earth's rotation. In this context, it is feared that china will build an even bigger dam again, which will affect the Earth's rotation.
