In the announcement issued by the police regarding the biryani shopkeeper Gnanasekaran, who was arrested in the anna university rape case earlier, regarding a complaint received that a student of anna university, Guindy Engineering College was sexually assaulted. A student of Guindy Engineering college was talking to her male friend alone behind a building on the college campus on 23.12.2024 at around 08.00 pm. An unidentified person had threatened them and the same person had sexually assaulted her, she had filed a complaint with the Kotturpuram All women police Station.

Anna university Rape: Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at the Kotturpuram AWPS and an investigation is underway. The police officials are investigating in collaboration with the university Internal Complaints Committee (ICC-POSH). Four special teams have been formed under the leadership of the Kotturpuram Assistant Commissioner to arrest the culprit. During the investigation. Based on scientific evidence, Gnanasekaran (37) from Kottur has been arrested for the crime.

The suspected culprit has also confessed. He runs a biryani stall on the footpath. Investigations are underway to see if he is involved in any other crime. Surveillance cameras have been installed on the university campus and security officers have been appointed. It is informed that appropriate action will be taken to improve the safety of students after consulting with the Metropolitan chennai police and the university security officers (Joint Security Review).
