AI can be misused if people aren't trained - Modi tells Bill Gates
"AI has the potential to be abused if someone is given it without the necessary training. To ensure that no one is misled, I propose that we begin with watermarks that are obvious on content produced by AI. "Anyone can use deepfake in a democracy like India," he informed Bill Gates.
The comments made by PM Modi coincide with the emergence of several deepfake images and films featuring athletes, celebrities, and other well-known figures, raising questions about the improper use of AI.
PM Modi encouraged the use of ChatGPT and other AI technologies to increase human productivity during the chat, but he cautioned that those who use technology "lazily" are making the wrong decision.
While acknowledging the benefits of AI, bill gates noted that there are a "few challenges" that must be overcome in addition to the "huge opportunity" that it presents.
In AI, these are still early days. It will do difficult tasks before failing at something you would have thought was simple. Though there are certain obstacles associated with AI, it appears to be a very promising field," he stated.
