Yerra Srilakshmi, a prominent IAS officer well-known to the telugu community since the ysr era, has had a career marked by both high praise and significant controversy. Her involvement in the infamous Obulapuram Mining case, which implicated her alongside the main accused, Gali Janardhan Reddy, led to her arrest in 2011. Despite these severe allegations, Srilakshmi was later exonerated by the telangana High Court, which cleared her of any wrongdoing.
Her relationship with the YS family remained strong throughout these turbulent times. YS Jagan, who succeeded in becoming the chief minister, demonstrated his unwavering trust in her by appointing her as the Special Chief Secretary. This move was notable, considering the cloud of suspicion that had previously hung over her career.
However, the political landscape in andhra pradesh has recently undergone a dramatic shift with the rise of Chandrababu Naidu's government. This change has brought about new dynamics and challenges for many officials, including Srilakshmi.
Today, during a conference with IAS officials, Srilakshmi attempted to formally greet chief minister Chandrababu Naidu by presenting him with a flower bouquet. Her gesture, intended to be one of respect and goodwill, was met with a stark rebuff. Naidu, who has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the conduct of several IAS officers over the past five years, turned his back on Srilakshmi, refusing to accept the bouquet.
The rejection was a public and poignant moment, leaving Srilakshmi visibly dejected. It underscored the tension between the current administration and some of the officials who served under the previous regime. Naidu's pointed refusal to accept Srilakshmi's gesture was seen by many as a symbolic rejection of the old guard's ways and an indication of his commitment to change and accountability in his administration.
