On the other hand, himachal pradesh increased Delhi's troubles on Thursday. himachal pradesh, which was claiming to release water for delhi as per the supreme Court's order till a day ago, has suddenly denied having any additional water. Himachal's lawyer told the supreme court that they will not be able to give 137 cusecs of water to Delhi. Angered by this U-turn of himachal pradesh, the supreme court has warned of taking contempt of court action against the Chief Secretary of the state. It has also ordered the Upper River yamuna Board to find a solution to this problem.

Due to the severe water crisis in the national capital, the aam aadmi party (AAP) government had appealed to the supreme court to get water from Haryana-UP. Hearing on this, the supreme court had ordered himachal pradesh to release 137 cusecs of water for Delhi. It had also ordered haryana to allow this water to reach delhi without any hindrance. While giving this order, the court had said that the problem of drinking water in delhi has become a big crisis, which needs to be resolved.

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had said on wednesday that the state is releasing water for Delhi. He told the media that we have released water. We have asked the lawyers to inform the supreme court about this. We are ready to give them (Delhi) water. There is no question about it.

This is what Himachal said in the supreme court on Thursday

The lawyer of the Himachal government has given information contrary to the statement of chief minister Sukhu in the supreme court on Thursday. He told the court that after releasing the water required for agriculture use and natural flow in the rivers, we are left with only 137 cusecs of water. We were not able to explain it correctly earlier. Our correct statement should be recorded in the record. We may have made a mistake earlier, but I have been told about it now. I will correct it and take back the previous statement.

The court got angry, gave this warning

The supreme court got angry with this U-turn of Himachal Pradesh. The bench said, 'We can take contempt action against you and can issue summons to your Chief Secretary. On this, the lawyer of Himachal government apologized to the court and said that he will file an affidavit in the court. On this, the court has ordered the Upper River yamuna Board to find a solution to this problem. Earlier, the board had said that following the court's order of june 6, himachal pradesh should release 137 additional cusecs of water for Delhi.
