Is It wayanad or Raebareli? Rahul gandhi to retain...
Rahul gandhi, the leader of the congress party, must decide whether to stay in his family's stronghold of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh or to continue serving the people of wayanad, a kerala constituency that voted for him in the 2019 elections after he lost Amethi. gandhi won the lok sabha election by sizable margins from two seats. The gandhi scion would have to make a decision quickly because the Representation of the people Act, 1951 mandates that he leave one constituency within fourteen days of the results being announced. A by-election will be conducted in that constituency if a seat becomes vacant.
According to sources, Rahul gandhi will probably travel to wayanad and Raebareli the next week to choose which seat to retain. That being said, a final decision is probably going to be made public by june 17. Rahul gandhi may keep the Raebareli seat, according to congress sources, so he can "focus on Uttar Pradesh and take advantage of good results." The bjp had lost 29 seats in 2019 as a result of the india bloc's devastating performance in UP, which reduced its number of seats to 33.
The seat's 100-year relationship with his family is another factor that would allow him to keep Raebareli. From 2004 till 2024, his mother sonia gandhi, who was elected to the rajya sabha this year, also served as a representative for the seat. "I am handing over my son to you," sonia declared as she arrived in Raebareli to speak at an election rally. congress General Secretary KC Venugopal responded, "This decision has to be taken before june 17 and it will come in 3-4 days," when asked which seat Rahul gandhi would retain.
Ramesh Chennithala, the leader of the congress, stated, "All members have asked that Rahul gandhi become the LoP. Rahul gandhi will be the only one to determine which seat in Raebareli or wayanad he should give up. With a margin of 3,90,030 votes, Rahul gandhi defeated Dinesh Pratap Singh of the bjp to win Raebareli. Additionally, he kept the wayanad lok sabha seat, defeating Communist party of India-Marxist contender Annie raja by a margin of 3,64,422 votes.
