Abhishek manu Singhvi filed a petition in the High Court…Senior supreme court advocate Abhishek manu Singhvi has challenged the process of rajya sabha elections in himachal pradesh High Court. Abhishek manu Singhvi personally reached himachal pradesh high court and filed a petition. It has been said in this petition that the rule of draw of lots under which the elections were lost is wrong. He has raised a demand from the high court to cancel this election.In the petition filed on behalf of Abhishek manu Singhvi, it has been said that the person whose name appears in the slip should lose the election. There is no such rule. It came into practice only as a tradition. Challenging this process of draw of lots in the elections, he has raised the demand for cancellation of the elections.Abhishek manu Singhvi and Harsh Mahajan both got 34-34 votes.Let us tell you that out of total 68 votes for the rajya sabha elections held in himachal pradesh, Abhishek manu Singhvi of congress got 34 votes and Harsh Mahajan of bjp also got 34 votes. After 34-34 votes on both sides, draw of lots was adopted as per the rules. The one whose name appeared in the slip lost the election. Abhishek manu Singhvi's name appeared in the slip and hence Harsh Mahajan won the election.6 congress MLAs did cross votingSix congress MLAs had cross-voted during the rajya sabha elections in Himachal. Due to which both bjp and congress candidates got 34-34 votes. After which the toss took place under the draw of lots and bjp candidate Harsh Mahajan won. The party took action against the congress MLAs who did cross-voting and declared them ineligible. There was a lot of turmoil in politics in Himachal during this period. After which the rebel MLAs joined BJP.
