The first phase of voting for the lok sabha elections is going to be held in a single phase across tamil Nadu on april 19. With about 20 days left for the election, political parties have been accusing the election commission of delay in allotting symbols to the opposition parties that are part of the india Alliance. Accordingly, the logos of the parties including the DMK alliance, the Vimitruhi Siruthaal party, and the Madhyamik party, were not finalized.

In this case, an appeal was made to the election commission on behalf of the party that the pot symbol should be allotted to the Liberation Tigers party, which is contesting in 2 separate constituencies viz. Villupuram and Chidambaram. However, the election commission refused to accept this, appealed to the respective district Election Officers, and requested the required symbol, and it was informed that the district Election Officer would decide according to the activities of other parties.
