The counting of votes for the JNU students Union elections is underway. There was a bumper 73 percent voting on friday for the student union elections. After this, the counting of votes started at 3 o'clock midnight on Friday. Out of 42 counselor posts, results for around 20 posts have been declared. Till the counting of 1,421 ballot papers, ABVP was leading on four seats but now the Left has overtaken ABVP on three seats. After counting of 3,295 votes, Left's dhananjay got 1361 votes and ABVP's Umesh Chandra Ajmira got 1162 votes for the post of President. On the post of Vice President, Left's Avijit Ghosh got 1214 votes and ABVP's deepika Sharma got 984 votes.
The central panel for this election includes the posts of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Joint Secretary, and General Secretary. dhananjay from the All india students Association (AISA), Avijit Ghosh from the students Federation of india (SFI), and Mohammad Sajid from All india students Federation (AISF) have been fielded from the United Left alliance. For information, let us tell you that the candidature of swati Singh, the fourth contender of the Left for the Central Panel, was canceled by the election Committee a few hours before the voting.
