Why were questions raised on the Places of Worship law after 30 years?

Annadurai

It is not that the Places of Worship Act was never opposed. When the law was being brought in July 1991, bjp had strongly opposed it in Parliament. At that time, uma bharti in the lok sabha and arun jaitley in the rajya sabha had demanded to send the matter to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. However, the law was still implemented. Apart from this, through several petitions in the supreme court, the Places of Worship Act has been challenged on the grounds that this law violates the basic principle of seeking justice. But the supreme court says that this law cannot prohibit knowing the real character of a religious place. On this basis, ASI conducted a survey of the Gyanvapi complex and now there is a demand to conduct a survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque in mathura on this basis.

Demand to abolish the Places of Worship Act 1991

Now the demand is being raised to abolish the Places of Worship Act of 1991. Some people believe that the Places of Worship Act is discriminatory and does not right the wrongs of the past. At the same time, some believe that this law is necessary to maintain peace in the country. The case on this is still pending in the supreme Court. Now the bjp mp in rajya sabha has raised the demand to abolish this Act. bjp mp Harnath Singh Yadav says that the Places of Worship Act is completely unconstitutional because this law reduces and violates the rights given to Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists in the Constitution.

The rajya sabha mp further said, 'The ram temple of ayodhya was kept separate in this law. This law creates discrimination between Lord ram and Shri krishna even though both are incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Secondly, no government can close the doors of the court for any citizen.
