Union Finance minister nirmala sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25 in parliament today. As it is the last budget before the lok sabha elections, the interim budget was presented today. This is the 6th budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman. This is also the last budget of the Modi 2.0 government. The next 'full budget' will be presented in July, once the new government takes office after the lok sabha elections. Key Features of Union Budget 2024:


Nirmala Sitharaman announced that there is no change in the ceiling of personal income tax. nirmala sitharaman said that the number of income tax filers has increased by 2.4 times. Direct tax collection has tripled since 2014. In 2024-25, tax receipts will be Rs. 26.02 lakh crore is projected.” He said that.


Finance minister has announced 2 crore more houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gram (PMAY-G). He said that the fiscal deficit target for the fiscal year 2025 has been fixed at 5.1 percent of the GDP.


Union Finance minister Sitharaman announced that 40,000 ordinary train coaches will be converted into Vande Bharat to improve passenger safety, comfort and convenience. He also announced that major rail infrastructure projects including Metro rail and Namo Bharat will be extended to more cities.


Itharaman also announced plans to set up new medical colleges. "A committee will be formed for this purpose," he said.
