Big relief to Mukhtar Ansari in Gangster Act case, got bail

Allahabad high court gave its verdict on the 10-year sentence given to Mukhtar Ansari by

the trial court in the gangster case. Mukhtar Ansari has got relief in the gangster case.

Allahabad high court has approved the bail of Mukhtar Ansari. Along with this, the High

Court has also stayed the fine of Rs 5 lakh imposed along with the punishment.


However, the high court did not accept Mukhtar Ansari’s appeal for stay on the sentence.

The high court refused to stay the sentence of Mukhtar Ansari. The hearing on the appeal

filed against the sentence will continue in the High Court.


The single bench of Justice Rajveer Singh gave the verdict on Monday. After the completion

of the arguments, the high court had reserved the decision on 20 September. Mukhtar Ansari

had filed an application in the high court challenging the 10-year sentence. mp MLA

Special court of Ghazipur had given sentence in the gangster case. On april 29, Mukhtar

Ansari was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Advocate upendra Upadhyay filed the certificate

Mukhtar Ansari’s advocate upendra Upadhyay had filed the certificate in the High Court.

Advocate upendra Upadhyay had told the court that Mukhtar Ansari has been in jail for 12

years and 4 months since remand was made in this case. The lawyer’s argument was that

Mukhtar Ansari had already spent more days in jail during the trial than the punishment

awarded to him. In this matter the court had also sought a report from the Banda Jail

Superintendent.
