Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary is going to be very special for the fans. On this occasion, you will be able to enjoy the iconic films of the showman, that too at a special price.

There is a big gift for raj Kapoor's fans on his 100th birth anniversary. rk Films, Film heritage Foundation, NFDC, NFAI & Cinemas are organizing a festival together. It is titled 'Raj Kapoor 100 - Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman'. This three-day festival will start on december 13 and will continue till December 15. Under this, 10 films of raj kapoor will be screened in 40 cities and 135 theaters.

Not only this, the special thing is that the tickets for the films shown at the festival will be priced at just Rs 100. Which will mark the 100th birth anniversary of raj Kapoor. Films like Aag, Barsaat, Awara, Shree 420, Jaagte Raho, Jis Desh Mein ganga Behti Hai, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, and ram Teri ganga Maili will be screened at the festival.

Raj Kapoor, who is known as the first showman of indian cinema, was a person who never made films keeping business in mind. He had a different passion for cinema. The passion with which he made films, the same passion with which the audience connected to his films. raj kapoor did many great works in front of and behind the camera in his 50-year career. For which he was also awarded 3 National Awards, 11 Filmfare Trophies, Padma Bhushan, and dadasaheb phalke Award.

Earlier this year, the Toronto international Film festival (TIFF), festival des 3 Continents, and the recently concluded international Film festival of india in goa (IFFI) paid tribute to raj kapoor with screenings and discussions. Considered the 'showman' of indian cinema, raj Kapoor's screen characters and films received an overwhelming response from fans not just in india but also abroad, especially in the erstwhile Soviet Union and the Middle East.


Discussing raj Kapoor's films and filmmaking, ranbir kapoor admitted at IFFI that he is a bigger fan of raj Kapoor the filmmaker than Raj Kapoor the actor. He also pointed out that raj Kapoor's films throughout his career had messages of socialist reform. Awara addressed casteism and Shree 420 addressed greed. Not just in india, raj Kapoor's screen characters and films received an overwhelming response from fans abroad as well. His characters and songs were extremely popular in the Soviet Union and the Middle East.
