The fallout between karan and Kartik originated on the sets of 'Dostana 2'. Kartik was initially cast alongside janhvi kapoor and newcomer Lakshya in the sequel to the 2008 romantic comedy 'Dostana', directed by Collin D'Cunha. However, due to reported issues with Kartik's behavior on set, he was dropped from the film. Dharma Productions announced that the film would be shelved and recast for later production. Neither Kartik nor Janhvi have publicly discussed the reasons behind the shelving of 'Dostana 2'.Despite their previous differences, Kartik and karan were seen together at the indian Film festival of melbourne in august last year, with their photos widely shared on social media. They were also spotted chatting at an award show last year.
