Serekuri ramoji rao was born on 16 november 1936 to Sri Serekuri Venkata Subpamma and Serekuri Venkata Subpaiah in Pedaparubudi village in krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He has two sisters Ranganayakamma and Rajyalakshmi.

Belonging to a farming family, he had a keen interest in learning new things and doing something creative in his childhood. He became a successful businessman and media entrepreneur and married Rama Devi. He has two sons suman Prabhakar and kiran Prabhakar.

Ramoji Rao started a studio called Film City in 1996. It is the largest film studio in the world. It is the livelihood of many employees and a place of entertainment for thousands of people all over the world
