Akshay Kumar, a prominent figure in the indian film industry, has entertained audiences for nearly 35 years with his versatile performances and blockbuster films. Despite his numerous achievements and entries into the coveted Rs 100 crore club, he received the National Award relatively late in his career.
In an interview, Akshay recounted a poignant incident from the National Award function that left him feeling slighted. During the event, as Akshay sat among fellow awardees, a malayalam actress approached him, expressing her admiration as a fan. Akshay, initially proud of his National Award recognition, engaged in conversation with her. However, his pride turned to surprise when the actress revealed that it was her first film for which she was receiving the prestigious award.
Despite having acted in approximately 135 films, Akshay was taken aback by the fact that a newcomer was being honoured with such a prestigious accolade. Akshay received his first National Award for his performance in the 2016 film "Rustom," where he was recognized as the Best Actor. Subsequently, his film "Padman," released in 2018, received the National Award for Best Film on Social Issue.
Reflecting on Akshay's career journey, it's evident that it has been marked by determination and hard work. He began his cinematic journey with a cameo in the 1987 film "Aaj" and later made his debut as a lead hero in "Saugandh" in 1991. Over the years, he has delivered memorable performances in iconic films like "Khiladi," "Hera Pheri," "Singh is King," and "Mission Mangal," among many others.
