Rising number of Unmarried Youth: Celebrities to blame..?
While there was a rise in child marriage in india at one time, the number of unmarried youth and young women has increased. Statistics have revealed that the number of unmarried youth has increased across the country. Although celebrities are said to be the reason for this, the economy and lifestyle changes are also said to be the reason. A report by the Ministry of Statistics shows that the percentage of unmarried youth in india is increasing. It is said that both boys and girls are not interested in getting married.
The National youth Policy formulated in 2014 classifies people between 15 years to 29 years as "youth". In that way, the percentage of unmarried youth (15-29 years old) for males was 20.8 percent in 2011 and it has increased to 26.1 percent in 2019. Likewise, the unmarried percentage of women has also increased.
In 2019, states like Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and punjab saw the highest percentage of unmarried youth, according to the report. But at the same time Kerala, tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and himachal pradesh have fewer unmarried youth. Although various reasons have been given for the increase in the number of unmarried youth, it is surprising that celebrities are also cited as a reason.
It is said that the youth follow the saying of certain celebrities that they are not going to get married and they have a deep feeling that they want to be like their favorite actors and celebrities. An official of the statistics department said that it is only in medium and small towns that young people say they are not going to get married because of the influence of celebrities.
The National Family health Survey reported that the sex ratio (females per 1,000 males) of the total population was 991 until a few years ago. But now statistics show that it has increased to 1020. Young men and women have commented that marriage is delayed because they are unable to find a suitable life partner.
It is also worth noting that financial problems are also delaying marriage. Many people say that marriage is delayed because both young men and women have made a policy decision that they can marry after they have made significant progress in the economy. According to the statistical study, the idea of getting married only after getting a good job or self-employment and settling down in life is among many young people.
By 2036, the youth population is predicted to start declining. According to the statistics, the total number of youth was 222.7 million in 1991 and 333.4 million in 2011 and has now reached 371.4 million. But by 2036, the number of young people will drop to 345.5 million, the report says. However, it is good news that today india continues to be a country of youth. india accounts for one-fifth of the world's youth population. The report said that if the youth population increases, the indian economy will also grow and the youth will play an important role in achieving the country's ambitious goals.
