The 2024 lok sabha elections in telangana indeed seem to be a tight contest, with both the congress and the bharatiya janata party (BJP) vying for dominance in the state. The preliminary results suggest a close race, with congress leading on nine seats and bjp on seven out of the 17 total seats in the southern state.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's continued influence in hyderabad is notable, as he maintains his lead against BJP's madhavi Latha.

Exit polls had hinted at a favorable outcome for the bjp, with predictions ranging from 7 to 10 seats for the party out of the 17 in Telangana. The congress was expected to secure between 5 to 8 seats, while other parties like the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and All india Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) were projected to garner 3 to 5 seats collectively.

Comparing to the 2019 General elections, where the telangana rashtra samithi (now BRS) emerged victorious with nine seats and a significant vote share, the landscape appears to be shifting, with the bjp making notable gains.

The voter turnout in telangana, reaching around 53 percent, reflects a significant engagement of the electorate in the democratic process, with many areas surpassing the 50 percent mark. These numbers indicate a keen interest among the people of telangana in shaping the political future of their state and the nation at large.
