LS Elections 2024 - NDA Crosses 200 in Early Trends

SIBY JEYYA
With a lead in 248 seats, the BJP-led nda has surpassed the 200-seat threshold. Early trends showed a close contest between the Congress-led india and the NDA.

Counting of votes began for lok sabha seats at all centers

Tuesday at 8 a.m., all seven phases of the lok sabha elections will have their ballots counted, with strict security measures in place at each counting location. The prediction by several pollsters that prime minister Narendra Modi will serve a third straight term has been a topic of controversy.

If prime minister Modi wins another term, he would have equaled the historic achievement of previous PM Jawaharlal Nehru—to date, no politician has been elected to the position of prime minister three times in a row.

Exit polls predicted a strong show by the BJP

Exit polls conducted before vote counting indicate that the bharatiya janata party (BJP) would perform strongly and that the opposition india alliance will suffer a defeat in the lok sabha elections.

The BJP-led nda is expected to win between 350 and 370 seats in the 543-member lok sabha, according to about seven exit polls. Additionally, they suggested that the india group may receive between 107 and 140 MPs in the end, just short of the necessary 272 seats for a majority.

The nda was expected to win more over 400 seats, according to three exit polls: News24-Todays Chanakya, india TV-CNX, and india Today-My Axis India.
