Telangana Declares Paid Holiday Today

SIBY JEYYA
The state government has proclaimed tuesday as a paid holiday in honor of Counting Day. Additionally, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPc have been placed within a 200-meter radius of around 17 vote-counting locations in the twin cities. Residents may find it challenging to utilize a variety of services as a result, such as renting bikes and taxis through aggregator platforms.

Though the businesses haven't formally announced a no-work day, gig workers worry that they won't get paid if they don't show up for work on Tuesday. According to telangana Gig and Platform workers Union (TGPWU) founder-president Shaik Salauddin, the majority of drivers will be at work on Tuesday. "Even if the government has declared a paid holiday, workers will still be at work tomorrow out of fear of losing their day's wages. Additionally, the businesses have not provided any worker safety measures," he stated. The corporates did not react when contacted.

The lok sabha elections will begin with the counting of votes at 8 AM. A triangular fight between the congress, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), and bharatiya janata party (BJP) is scheduled to take place in Telangana. On May 13, the State held elections, and 65.67% of voters cast ballots. Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) won nine seats in the 2019 lok sabha elections, whereas the bharatiya janata party (BJP) secured four seats, the congress secured three seats, and AIMIM secured one seat.
