Power consumption in Greater Hyderabad to touch 90 MU

On Thursday, march 28, the Greater hyderabad area saw a record-breaking 79.48 million units of energy consumption due to the State's high temperatures. The electricity consumption reached 79.33 MU on May 19 of last year, but it crossed 79 MU in march of this year, suggesting that the need for power may rise shortly. In march of last year, there was a record-breaking high power usage of 67.97 MU.
 

Officials from the Southern Power Distribution Company of telangana (TSSPDCL) state that whereas the average power consumption in Greater hyderabad in march of last year was 57.84 million units, it exceeded 70.96 million units this year. According to the officials, there has been a reported growth of around 22.7 percent in the current month.
The officials stated that the Greater hyderabad boundaries were seeing an increase in energy consumption due to the constant and adequate supply of electricity. They further stated that the power consumption was expected to reach 90 MU shortly. The officials stated that to satisfy the increasing demand, more lines, transformers, and other essential measures had been prepared.
 

In the meanwhile, tsspdcl C&MD musharraf ali Faruqui monitors the power supply, demand, power outages, and staff attendance every day by attending review sessions with top executives of the Discoms. Furthermore, he is even making unannounced trips to locations where people are experiencing power outages.
 
Additionally, the CMD has mandated that all department officials report for duty at nine o'clock every day. To learn more about the electricity situation in slums and colonies, he has also ordered the CGM and SE to visit such places once a week.
