After the change in weather, the heat is reaching its peak. The temperature is increasing day by day. There is a danger of heat stroke due to hot winds. haryana Government has issued an advisory for protection from heat wave in public interest. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has advised to follow the advisory issued by the government. district Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Gurugram DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said that prevention is better than cure. He said that there is a danger of heat stroke due to increased temperature.

Who is at greater risk of heat stroke?

Nishant Kumar Yadav said that especially players, children, elderly and sick people are more afraid of getting affected by heat wave. He said that one should get weather related news from radio, TV, and newspapers. The Chairman of the district Disaster Management Authority has advised people to wear light colored loose cotton clothes in summer, keep their heads covered, and use clothes, hat or umbrella. He said that in strong sunlight and heat the body sweats more. Due to sweating, there is lack of water in the body. Therefore, drink sufficient amount of water to fulfill the deficiency. One can keep oneself refreshed by consuming ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution), home made drinks like Lassi, Torani (rice starch), lemon water, buttermilk.

Government issued advisory

Do not leave children in vehicles as they may be at risk of heatstroke. Do not go out barefoot, keep a hand fan with you to get relief from the heat, take short breaks in between work, if you are working in the fields and barns, take the help of a tree or shade from time to time. Avoid consuming junk food during the summer season. Eat fresh fruits, salads and home cooked food. Especially do not go out in direct sunlight between 12 noon and 4 pm. If the child experiences dizziness, vomiting, nervousness, headache, chest pain or difficulty in breathing, contact the doctor immediately.
