Indian man, 27, dies in New York building fire, e-bike battery caused it
On Friday, a horrific fire event in Harlen, New York, claimed the life of a 27-year-old indian man. The individual was recognised as fazil Khan by the indian Embassy in New York, who also stated that they are in contact with his friends and family. The Daily news also reported, citing the local fire department, that the fire at a Harlem apartment complex was started by an e-bike's lithium-ion battery. The indian Consulate General in New York stated that they are in contact with Khan's family and would "extend all possible assistance" in order to make amends for the occurrence by returning Khan's dead remains to India.

We continue to extend all possible assistance in reparation of his mortal remains to India. @IndianEmbassyUS @MEAIndia," indian Consulate General said in a post on X.
Khan, a graduate of Columbia Journalism School, passed away in a hospital following his evacuation from the building, according to a Daily news news report. It also stated that 17 other people were hurt in the same event.
Local resident Akil Jones said that as the building's top level caught fire, individuals began jumping out of the windows.

A 'complete evacuate' order was issued by the Department of Buildings after the event, and the red Cross is helping scores of individuals find temporary shelter at a neighbouring school.
