Telangana Hyderabad - Civil Supplies Dept Claims Record Recovery

The Civil Supplies Corporation (CSC) claimed to have recovered a record 14.5 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of rice from millers during the second week of december and january 27. The organization stated that it was due 43.73 LMT of rice from millers during the kharif season 2022-23, which lasted 15 months. According to Civil Supplies Commissioner D.S. Chauhan, the present recovery is much larger than the 24.50 LMT recorded between october 2022 and november 2023.
With the deadline for sending rice to the Food Corporation of india approaching in two days, attempts are being made to persuade millers to return rice. Millers have been told that willful defaulters would have to pay money instead of grains. The districts with the highest CMR rice pendency are wanaparthy (82,000 metric tonnes), nagarkurnool (42,000 metric tonnes), medak (40,000), kamareddy (37,000), nirmal (35,000), Jagityal (33,000), and Peddapally and Suryapet (32,000 tonnes). These districts receive special attention.
Deputy chief minister Mallu bhatti vikramarka stated that the Civil Supplies Corporation (CSC) has never data-faced such debt, even in the undivided state, despite giving rations to 2.82 crore cardholders. The BRS government had left the firm to fend for itself by withholding payments, he claimed.
