Telangana - Bhadrachalam sizzles at 46.5°C
Thirteen mandals registered temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, while the district's temple town of bhadrachalam sizzled at 46.5 degrees. Aswapuram mandal had the highest daytime temperature of 46.1 degrees Celsius, while sujatha Nagar and Paloncha mandals registered 46 degrees.
Chunchupally, Manugur, Dummugudem, Pinapaka, Julurpad, Cherla, Laxmidevipalli, Kothagudem, and Chandrugonda mandals experienced temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. In other Mandals, the highest recorded temperatures varied between 44 and 41 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, the whole state was engulfed in oppressive heat as temperatures surged to previously unheard-of heights in several places. The telangana State Development Planning Society's statistics show that by 4:00 pm, the maximum temperature reached over 45 degrees Celsius at a startling 150 locations—that is, 146—across many districts, sending the summer heat to unprecedented levels.
With a blistering 46.6 degrees Celsius, Gudapur in the nalgonda district set the record for the hottest temperature in the state for the day. At 46.5 degrees Celsius, bhadrachalam was closely behind, while other places like Chandur in nalgonda, Munagala in Suryapet, and Mangapet in mulugu were also scorching hot. With temperatures expected to rise beyond 45 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the meteorological service issued a red alert for portions of the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Suryapet, Khammam, Mahabubabad, bhadradri Kothagudem, mulugu, and Nalgonda. On Thursday, the temperature in hyderabad varied from 43 to 45 degrees Celsius.
