Why Ghilli Re-Release gets Over Hyped?

G GOWTHAM
The Re-Release trend has caused a huge noise everywhere. Post-COVID, theeaters are struggling to thrive and people started preferring OTT content. To bring back the audience to theaters, the re-release trend started. Initially, it started to celebrate a particular actor's birthday and slowly it became a trend where the re-release is celebrated as a festival.

Cult Classic movies are getting re-released and 2K kids who missed the theatrical fun try to change the theatre halls into concert halls and they share them as reels on instagram and other social media. The current re-release sensation is Vijay's blockbuster 'Ghilli' which was a remake of Mahesh Babu's 'Okkadu'. In fact, this even led to fan wars as mahesh babu fans claim okkadu is better and vice-versa.

Even new tamil releases were overshadowed by 'Ghilli'. So, how can a two-decade old movie overshadow new releases? Well, the answer is simple. As our indian Govt slowed other trains to show 'Vande Bharat' as the fastest train, Vijay's PR team made all gimmicks and portrayed the re-release as the blockbuster material. When we tried to dig in, this is not Vijay's first re-release, in fact, Pokkiri got re-released last year and no one bats an eye. So, it's obvious it's all a clear agenda of a PR team.

Even his arch rival's blockbuster movie re-release rights wasn't provied and it was withheld to showcase 'Ghilli' re-release storms even on the 2nd weekend. This isn't a new thing for an actor with huge PR backdrop as we have seen them several times and we even reported it a dozen times earlier. During the release of 'Arabic Kuthu', several celebrities like Keerthy Suresh, samantha were forced to do it and share it on their social media accoutns and they made it viral. And even recently after the dreadful failure of 'Whistle Podu' song, they tried to use chennai Super Kings franchise and tried desperately to make it viral which never happened.

So, why these much of hype and hoopla? Of course, Vijay himself is going to stop acting and enter politics! There's a catch! 'Ghilli' re-release distributor Sakthi Velan who met Vijay and thanked him made an obligation that he should act at least one movie a year to save tamil Cinema! So, in case, if his political entry backfires, he can make a re-entry just like chiranjeevi and kamal haasan and he can again be the saviour(!) of kollywood with his PR and mafia. Well, we just remember the below Goundamani comedy!
