MS Viswanathan, known as the 'King of Melody,' is one of India's most renowned composers. The kerala government has set aside Rs 1 crore to construct a memorial to him, who has composed music for over 1,500 films in a variety of languages. Kerala's government, led by Binarayi Vijayan, issued its annual budget report yesterday. Some initiatives to commemorate persons who excelled in the arts of the arts were announced in it.
As a result, a financial allocation of Rs.1 crore for the memorial was announced. MS Viswanathan was born in 1928 in Elappulli village in Palakkad, kerala, to a Malayalee family. He lost his father when he was four years old and grew up in Kannanur, where he lived with his grandfather. He sold junk food in cinemas and studied music with Neelakanda Bhagavathar despite not having completed high school. He made his stage debut at the age of thirteen.
