A Stripped Video Call, Techie Lost 1.1 Crore!

A software developer from the UK was the victim of extortion by a lady he met online. He entered a video conference with the woman after she enticed him in with a false profile, whereupon she reportedly undressed and secretly taped the conversation. Later, she threatened to demand payment or reveal the tape to his parents. The technician gave in to the demand and sent the woman around Rs 1.1 crore in transfers to her banks and telephone phones.
After discovering her true name, the victim reported the incident to the police. The woman's accounts were successfully frozen for a total of Rs 84 lakh by Whitefield CEN Crime police, and they are still looking for the culprit. Authorities warn individuals to use cautious when communicating with strangers online, disconnect from unwanted calls, and report any suspicious activity right once.
Sunny, 41, was looking for a life companion when he joined on a matrimonial website while in Bengaluru for training purposes. On the website, he made friends with a woman who had a phoney profile; after exchanging messages for a few days, they decided to exchange numbers. The woman claimed to be living with her mother after her father passed away and indicated an interest in getting married to Sunny. According to the report, she contacted him on July 2 and asked for a loan of Rs. 1,500, claiming her mother's medical emergency.
