Water level was dwindling as the tank was not receiving inflow from the Mettur Dam, a PWD official

Sources from Cuddalore have stated that Supply of water from Veeranam lake to Chennai to meet the drinking water requirement was stopped from Monday owing to poor storage, a senior Public Works Department (PWD) official said.


Meanwhile the PWD Assistant Engineer R. Govindarajan had said that the water level in the sprawling tank on Monday stood at 27 feet, against its maximum of 47.50 feet.


He had also stated that the water level was dwindling as the tank was not receiving inflow from the Mettur Dam and most parts of Tamil Nadu are facing drought like situation in view of monsoon failure.
