Additional teachers in govt schools is a joke... Ensure one teacher per class- Ramadoss
One teacher for 19 studentsHaving one teacher for every 19 students in primary schools will contribute immensely to the educational development of government-school students. But, that is not the reality. According to the teacher-student ratio laid down by the government of tamil Nadu, assuming that a primary school has 7 students in each class from Class I to Class V, only two teachers will be provided to that school. If there is a third or fourth teacher, they will be considered surplus and transferred to other schools. It is a natural rule that even if there is one student in a class, there should be a teacher to teach him. But what is the justification for appointing only one teacher if there are 19 students in five classes and only two teachers if there are 38 or less students? 5 If a teacher or two teachers have to take care of the classes how can they teach the students?According to the statistics published by the tamil Nadu Primary education Department two years ago, there are only 69,640 teachers working in 29,418 schools including 22,831 primary schools and 6587 middle schools operating under the Primary education Department in tamil Nadu. Even assuming only one section per class in these schools, there could be a total of 1,66,851 classes. Accordingly, 97,211 classes have no teachers. This too was the situation two years ago. Now the number of teacherless classes will be more than one lakh. It is ridiculous to say that 2236 teachers are surplus to the reality.7000 crore for new classroomThe tamil Nadu government has not taken any steps to improve government schools in tamil Nadu. Two years after Rs 7000 crore was allocated to build new classrooms for government schools, not a significant number of new classrooms have been built. If the tamil Nadu government really wants to improve government schools, it should immediately strengthen the infrastructure in government schools. Ramadas has insisted that the tamil Nadu government should take steps to appoint at least one teacher per class instead of showing false figures that there is a surplus of teachers.
