1.Telangana stands tenth in road accident cases across India: NCRB.There has been a 5.52 per cent increase in the number of road accidents cases across Telangana, shows the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2015 data. This puts the State at the tenth position, in terms of road accidents,  recording 21,252 accident cases being registered in 2015.
2.300 buses pressed into service in Hyderabad to clear extra rush on Sankranthi.Greater Hyderabad Zone has increased the frequency of buses on major high density corridors of the twin cities with 10 per cent additional buses in view of the conclusion of Sankranthi holidays.
3.Stage set for Warangal’s first international kite festival.The district administration is making all out efforts to make the International Kite Festival, being held for the first time in the city, a huge success. The kite festival will be held at Arts and Science College Grounds in Hanamkonda on January 17.
4.Sheep rearing will be made a big industry: Telangana CM. The state government is keen on developing sheep rearing as a big industry in the State in the coming days, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has said.
5.Gadwal ryots can now get soil tested at their doorstep.In what can be termed as a good news for farmers in the district, important soil tests will now be conducted at their doorsteps.The state government has decided to equip the district with 99 soil testing kits by keeping in view the completion of lift irrigation projects like Nettempadu, Jurala and Tummila in the district. The state government has also decided to appoint 89 agriculture extension officers to carry out these tests in the district. There will be an extension officer for every 2,500 hectares area. The district has 2.30 lakh acres of land.
6.No real-time monitoring of industrial pollution in TS.Real-time monitoring of industrial pollution has been a pipe dream of the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) since 2014 when the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) issued guidelines on it. We are into year 2017 now, and the project is yet to take off.
7.Accused can be tried even if not charge-sheeted.The Hyderabad High Court has upheld the decision of a trial court to implead suspected persons (accused petitioners) to put them on trial in a criminal case though their names were deleted by the investigating agency from the list of the accused.
8.Cong, MIM attack PM for replacing Bapu’s photo.:Replacement of Mahatma Gandhi’s photo with PM Modi on the calendar and dairies of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has made Congress and AIMIM speak with ‘one voice’.
“Khadi and Gandhiji are symbols of our history, self-reliance and freedom struggle. Replacing his photo with PM Modi’s image is nothing but a sin,” TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said here.
9.Haj subsidy should stay: Deputy CM.Against the backdrop of Centre’ proposal to remove Haj subsidy, state deputy chief minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Sunday urged the Centre not to take such step. Moreover, he requested Union government to increase budgetary allocation for providing subsidy to Muslims who go on Haj pilgrimage to Mecca and Madina in Saudi Arabia every year.


Andhra Pradesh
1.Punters in Andhra Pradesh defy SC orders, organise cockfights. In violation of apex court orders, cockfights in Andhra Pradesh continued unabated with several crores of rupees gambled on the outcome of the bloodsport, now illegal. 
2.Filmmakers to work with British architects in building Amaravati.With the invitation of the AP government, famous Telugu filmmaker Jagarlamudi Krish along with art director Anand Sai are set to work with the renowned British architecture firm ‘Foster and Brothers’ in designing Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
3.Vizag meat shops make brisk business on Kanuma.Meat shops did a brisk business on Sunday on  account of ‘Kanuma’, the final day of the three-day Sankranti festival here. Compared to chicken, mutton and ‘country chicken’ were sold like hot cakes. Cashing in on the demand, several traders have hiked the prices.
4.Police commissioner bats for traffic training institute. With increasing traffic year by year and the city growing by leaps and bounds, the city police sought a “traffic training institute”, in Visakhapatnam. If all goes well, Vizag will be the first city in AP to have TTI. Hyderabad has one such institute in the combined state.“We have asked the Police department and expect a positive response. A number of traffic violations are being reported and noticed and the city is expanding. The institute, when set up, will not only help to conduct counselling sessions or awareness camps, but also benefit the traffic police,”  city police commissioner T Yoganand told Express.
5.Dharna after Ranga bust in Vijayawada smashed, police suspect ‘drunkards’.Unidentified persons destroyed the statue of late Congress leader Vangaveeti Ranga at Pipula Road, Ajith Singh Nagar, here in the early hours of Sunday.The locality remained tense as Ranga loyalists led by his son and YSRC leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna rushed to the spot and staged a dharna.Sources said that the statue of Ranga was removed from its platform and thrown onto the road during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
6.RTA authorities crack the whip on private buses.Cracking the whip against private bus operators, who have been fleecing passengers by cashing in on the demand during this festive season, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) seized 14 private buses here on Friday.
