Sudha Subbiah

Samajwadi party mp from sambhal Zia-ur-Rehman Bark's father Mamluk-ur-Rehman Bark on friday accused the police of 'atrocities' on the local people after the violence of 24 november and said that the atmosphere of the area will not improve until the police stop unnecessary arrests. SP mp Bark is an accused in a case registered on november 24 last month on the orders of the court in connection with the violence that took place during the survey of Jama Masjid located in Kot Garvi Mohalla of Sambhal. Four people were killed in this violence. The police have arrested about 40 people in this case so far.

Not afraid of harassment - MP's father

After offering friday prayers at Shahi Jama Masjid, MP's father Mamluk-ur-Rehman Barq said, "Until the police stop arresting people on the pretext of being accused in violence, the atmosphere of sambhal will not improve. Arrests should stop here. The atrocities being committed by the police should be stopped. Breaking into homes, beating and insulting women is a form of harassment. We are not afraid of harassment. Who is guilty...isn't the police?" On the local sub-divisional magistrate issuing a 'show cause notice' to mp Zia-ur-Rehman Barq for building a house without getting the map approved, he said, "First of all, the house is not in his name. Secondly, we have taken 15 days from the administration. After that everything will be known. This house is in the name of our father (Dr. Shafiqur Rahman).''

Appreciation of the decision

Burke praised the supreme Court's thursday decision to stop lower courts from accepting petitions related to the survey of religious places and ordering the survey. According to administration officials, the notice issued on december 5 under the Uttar Pradesh (Building Operation Regulation) Act 1958 mentions violation of local building norms. Deputy district Magistrate (Sambhal) Vandana Mishra said, "The family's lawyer had sought time from the administration to respond on Thursday. As per our provisions, another notice will be issued to them. They did not file their reply on time. We cannot give so much time. The next notice will be issued as per the provisions.''
