During Iqra Hasan address in the winter session of parliament yesterday, Iqra Hasan also mentioned the statements of allahabad High court judge Justice Shekhar Yadav. She said, "The allahabad High court judge made such statements that the supreme court itself had to take cognizance of it. Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution have given minorities their religious and cultural rights, so that they can maintain their identity and run their institutions. However, now the rights of minorities are being hurt."

Iqra Hasan took the Modi government to task and said, "The government is trying to snatch away the religious rights of the minorities by bringing religious bills like Waqf. The minority community has to fight a long battle to get their constitutional rights.

Samajwadi party (SP) mp Iqra Hasan, alleging discrimination against minorities in the country, said on friday that the first responsibility of protecting minorities in India, bangladesh and any other country is of that country. Participating in the discussion on the topic 'Glorious journey of 75 years of the Constitution' in the Lok Sabha, she alleged that under this government, minorities in the country are being targeted because of their religious identity. Iqra said that according to the Constitution, no one should be discriminated against on the basis of religion and caste.
