All three independent MLAs have filed a petition...

Three independent MLAs of himachal pradesh assembly, krishna Lal Thakur, Hoshiar Singh and ashish Sharma resigned from the membership of the assembly on march 22. For this he met the assembly Secretary and submitted his resignation. After this, the three independent MLAs also reached governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to inform about their resignation.

After meeting the governor, the three independent MLAs also reached the official residence of the assembly Speaker and handed over the copy of their resignation. Even before the resignations were accepted, on march 23, all three independent MLAs joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Speaker did not accept the resignation of the three independent MLAs. In protest against this, the three independent MLAs had filed a petition in the himachal pradesh High Court. The petition was heard and the division bench had different opinions in this matter.

There is also a demand to cancel the membership of independent MLAs

Apart from the resignation of the three independent MLAs, Jagat Singh Negi, a member of the ruling party and Revenue minister in the himachal pradesh government, has also submitted a petition to the assembly Speaker against the three independent MLAs. It has been said in this petition that the membership of the three independent MLAs should be cancelled. All three independent MLAs won the elections as independent candidates, but they joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. This is a violation of the anti-defection law and in such a situation the membership of the three independent MLAs should be cancelled. In this regard also, assembly Speaker kuldeep Singh Pathania had asked the three independent MLAs to appear in the assembly Secretariat, but the three independent MLAs did not appear. For this, the Speaker has called the three independent MLAs again on May 16 for the hearing on this petition.
