Chidambaram pokes fun at PM Modi while Musk postpones...

On Monday, Congressman p. chidambaram criticised prime minister Narendra Modi while tesla CEO Elon Musk took an unexpected trip to china instead of his scheduled visit to India. "Elon Musk postponed his trip to india, citing his obligations to Tesla." The former finance minister stated, "He visited china in a matter of days, had discussions with the Chinese prime minister, and talked about introducing his new self-driven car to China. Chidamabaram stated, "Hon'ble PM of india fumes privately and says publicly that the indian government is a majboot Sarkar."

Elon Musk, the CEO of tesla and SpaceX, canceled his trip to india this month, which included a meeting with prime minister Narendra Modi, citing "very heavy tesla obligations." Musk was supposed to visit the country this month to present various investment proposals. Expectations of a possible $2 billion investment in an EV facility have been fueled by recent indications of improving ties between tesla and India. The government has made the decision to lower import duties on automobiles from foreign automakers who commit to investing in local production. Any official declaration about these advances, though, has been postponed.

On the other hand, Musk met with Chinese premier Li Qia and other senior government officials in the Chinese capital on Sunday. After his brief visit to china, government representatives gave tesla Inc. the go-ahead to introduce its driver-assistance system in the biggest auto market in the world, in principle.

The National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of china and the china Association of Automobile Manufacturers released a list of 76 intelligent connected car models—including tesla models—that complied with the nation's auto data security regulations. china is the second-biggest market for tesla, and this is Musk's second trip there. Operating since 2019, the shanghai factory supplied 947,000 automobiles in 2022, a 33% increase over 2022.
