The date of the lok sabha election has been announced. Accordingly, the election commission has announced that polling will be held in 7 phases for a total of 543 constituencies across the country. The first phase of polling will be held on april 19 and the final and seventh phase of polling on june 1. The votes will be counted on june 4 and the results will be announced on the same day.

Accordingly, the second phase of polling will be held on april 26 in the state of kerala, which has a total of 20 lok sabha constituencies. The filing of nominations for the second phase of elections has started today. In this situation, congress president rahul Gandhi will file his nomination in wayanad at noon tomorrow (April 3). There are reports that his sister priyanka gandhi will also be present when he files his nomination papers.

The congress stronghold wayanad lok sabha seat has been in the party's hands since 2009. congress president rahul Gandhi, who contested in two constituencies namely Amethi and wayanad in the 2019 lok sabha elections, won in wayanad and is the sitting MP. He had won that election by a margin of 4.31 lakh votes. However, he lost to Union minister Smriti Irani in Amethi.

The party leadership has given rahul Gandhi a chance to contest the wayanad lok sabha seat again in the upcoming lok sabha elections in 2024. BJP's kerala State President Surendran and Communist party of India's Ani raja will contest the wayanad lok sabha seat against rahul Gandhi.
