Reportedly the Modi government is said to be buying surveillance tools to spy on the personal data and communications of 140 crore citizens. According to a report by an english newspaper from britain, the Modi government is planning to spy on the people of the country by buying powerful surveillance equipment from Israeli technology companies Cognyte and Septier. The cable of this surveillance system is installed under the sea and it enables India's security agencies to spy on the personal data and communications of 1.4 billion citizens, the report said.


Meanwhile Israel-based Septier has reportedly sold its wireless technology to telcos including mukesh Ambani's reliance Jio, vodafone Idea and Singapore's Singtel. It accused Cognit of helping to monitor journalists and politicians in several countries, though it did not name India.
