Ministers Inspect Ongoing Kolathur Road and Pedestrian Infrastructure Projects

Tamil Nadu ministers E.V. Velu and P.K. Sekar Babu conducted an on-site inspection of multiple road and pedestrian infrastructure projects in Kolathur and nearby areas yesterday. The review focused on the Kolathur Lake Park service road, pedestrian bridges, and road widening projects on key streets, with ministers directing officials to expedite work and ensure timely completion for public benefit.

The ministers personally visited ongoing projects, including:

  • The 600-meter-long service road alongside Kolathur Lake Park, with a width of 7.5 meters and pedestrian pathways of 2 meters on both sides. This project, valued at 3.50 crore, is aimed at improving access and traffic flow for vehicles traveling from the Kolathur-Perambur Paper Mills road.
  • Pedestrian bridge works and road widening near G.N.T. Road and Padi Meenambalam, with ongoing construction costing 155.35 crore, as well as street improvements in Kolathur town at a value of 15.42 crore.
During the inspections, district officials and project engineers were instructed to accelerate construction schedules while ensuring quality and safety standards. The ministers emphadata-sized that these infrastructure upgrades are intended to enhance public convenience, pedestrian safety, and overall traffic management in the busy urban areas.

Additionally, Velu and Sekar Babu reviewed the Kolathur Periyar nagar water tank and the Kolathur GKM Colony pond park, which were inaugurated by the tamil Nadu chief minister as part of urban development initiatives. They also visited ongoing work for the bus terminal project in Perungudi, Chennai, underscoring the government’s focus on improving public transport infrastructure.

The ministers reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to completing public works efficiently, improving city amenities, and ensuring that residents can immediately benefit from the upgraded roads, pedestrian walkways, and parks.
