Before we go with the review, we first bow down before all the unsung heroes of our Nation. This movie is about one such unsung hero. Thanks to 'Neerja' as it brought one of the unsung heroes to spot light. Neerja is born to middle class parents Rama and Harish. She boarded Pan Am flight 73 and the flight was filled with more than 300 lives. Terrorists hijack the flight and Neerja data-faces those terrorists and save the passengers. Finally she loses herself. The sad thing is she takes her last breath when she was just short of her 24th birthday. The movie moives without any more diversions and that is the biggest strength. 

Take a bow Sonam. You have just bought Neerja in front of our eyes. For the first time in your career she has done a flawless performance. She will definitely bring tears down our eyes. Most of us wonder, whether it's the Sonam who wear bright designer clothes to distract us ? Wow ! This movie has given new lease of life for her career. She also has some flashback scenes where she walks from an abusive arranged marriage. The portions towards climax will definitely bring tears down your eyes. After Sonam, a major portion was handed by Azmi. She gives a brilliant performance as Neerja's mother. Her performance is raw and the way she speaks about her daughter and how she misses her each day will even melt stone hearts. We don't want to reveal spoilers, but there is a scene where Sonam reads a letter from her 'abusive' husband. That is also a notable scene. 

Saiwyn Quadras has penned a tight and gripping screenplay. But in second half the plot goes various ways. But still the powerful climax brings tears on everyone. Vishal Khurana's music is mostly used on the background. Thankfully there are no diversions. He creates a tension with his song sequence. Mitesh Mirchandani Cinematography is absolutely brilliant. The frames are spectacular. Lightings are natural and it shows the life within the flight to perfection. 

Neerja is a story where you 'heroics'. By heroics we mean real heroism. You don't get to see bad guys flying and car's blasting. The real bravery of a real woman is shown. Almost this movie will inspire most of the young women. Just like Sonam Kapoor said on her promotional activities, the movie is more about bringing the unsung hero to lime light. Thanks to Fox Star Studios production values, the promotions are done high. This is a movie where we have to salute and honour a real life hero.
