In a recent interview, sanjay gupta spoke openly on these issues.

He said that all the actors agreed to be a part of 'Dus Kahaniyaan' and vivek was the only one who rejected it. The director said that he did not say anything on this, but made up his mind that from now on he would stay away from them. After that, he did not work with him.

The filmmaker further recalled that when they were making 'Shootout at Wadala', vivek suggested that they work together again, but this time too, they backed out at the last moment. Sanjay revealed that Oberoi came to his house on Diwali, heard the story of the film, and later agreed to be a part of the film.

Sanjay said that when he announced the film, vivek backed out because he had received some calls from Sanjay Dutt's team. Later, Sanjay cast sonu sood in that role. The film is believed to be based on the life of manya Surve, a mumbai gangster. The film was liked by the audience and was also commercially successful.
